Tucked into a little strip mall off of a small town street, you might walk right by this little gem of a burger joint and not even notice. The interior is cozy and has a Pacific Northwest feel, menus display an impressive list of local microbrews and fascinating food items. The ambiance fits my hunger, and I can't wait to dig in.
Mammoth sports many custom burgers with clever names. From the Black and Blue, to the Tequila Sunrise, you are sure to find something on the menu that piques your interest. I asked my server, Kyrin, what the most popular burger was. She quickly pointed me to the Don't Go Bacon My Heart, which I promptly ordered.
Side Note! One item really jumps off the menu, the Mammoth Burger! This monster is loaded with 1.5 lbs of beef, another 1/4 lb of cheese, bacon, and all the fixins. I will have to wrangle up my tribe and try to devour this burger on my next visit.
Adequately named, the Don't Go Bacon My Heart comes loaded with a 1/3 lb hand pressed local grass fed beef patty. Grilled on a flat top and covered in Hempler's thick cut bacon and topped with Tillamook vintage white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onion, smothered in Mammoth Sauce and housed in an artisan bun. It was love at first sight!
All of the ingredients blend magically, the burger dripped a lake of grease on my table while I dug in. Don't discard the wrapper or you will have a significant lake of goo to contend with. These are juicy burgers, crafted by masters, and it shows throughout the meal. The toppings covered most of the burger and were sensed in each bite, the caramelized onions melt in your mouth, and the Mammoth sauce might be one of the best "secret sauces" I've ever encountered. The bun is not your backyard picnic sesame seed variety, lightly toasted and capable of holding up to a serious burger.
Fries have no influence on my burger ratings, but they are worth noting! Mammoth takes their frycraft just as serious as their burgers. Fries are hand cut, soaked in an ice brine, and double fried. The seasoning on their fries was top notch, you really cannot get any better. If fries are not to your liking they do have other options, such as garlic or Korean fries, onion peels, tater tots and crispy cauliflower.
The company has a mission, to create amazing food while keeping it's footprint minimal and local. They use local grass fed organic beef and all natural products. They pride themselves on a "Full Use" principle by composting and minimizing waste. So I guess you can get your grub on and feel good while you do it, if that's important to you.
Mammoth Burger puts their heart and soul into the food that they make, and it shows. I award them a Platinum Trophy, the highest burger honor I can give. At 18 total points, it's nearly impossible to find a better burger. I strongly suggest you swing by and have a bite! Well done Mammoth!
